Classy on Sunday // A Trip to the Aranoff

Classy on Sunday // A Trip to the Aranoff

Hello everyone! I can't even believe that Thanksgiving, the holiday of feasting and gratitude, is already behind us, in our minds, and spoken of in the past tense. We certainly have had a lovely one! Most of the day our family was gathered around the kitchen counters, wrapped in the aromas of great food, (all from scratch), busily working to get it on the table, then to be devoured over the next couple of days. Mmmm... Bliss. But let me take you farther back than Thanksgiving, and come with me to Cincinatti's famous Aranoff Theater, to see the story of Peter Pan danced across it's grand stage.

Outtakes // Vol. 2

Outtakes // Vol. 2

Yippee! Today is... What? Oh No! Without a doubt, today is the most awkward, the most absurd, the most unladylike post we could put on this blog of ours! That's right. It's Outtakes day, friends. All of our goofy, personal things are in here. Now obviously this is still but a glimpse into our funny bone dispositions, but at least you're not getting the opposite end of the spectrum... hem... cat fights anyone? So please enjoy at our expense, the lovely collection of shots we have for you all today.

Avonlea Inspired Photo Shoot

Avonlea Inspired Photo Shoot

Hello, hello!
What a wonderful season for photography we are in presently! There was a day a few weeks ago when the fall leaves were just beginning to turn, and wouldn't you know, a package from Grandma arrived! When opened, one of its contents I pulled out was a startling look alike of one of the delicate blouses worn in the Anne of Green Gables era. Suddenly, our minds gave wing to creative prowess, and a new Photo Shoot was soon in session. We like to think of it as the Avonlea Inspired Photo Shoot.

Outfit // November Breezes

Outfit // November Breezes

Hello dearies! Have the breezes of November reached your neck of the woods yet? Our woods have been almost completely emptied of their bounteous leaves, and the gray-brown of the winter months is starting to show its face. Thankfully the bitter cold has not yet arrived, though I hear tell that there is to be snow this weekend. Botheration! November always puzzles me, because at the beginning, there are little hints and teases of snow, and then we go for almost two months(!) without a single snowflake. Finally, if we're lucky, we'll get snow around Christmastime, though thankfully its only a powdered sugar coating usually, and not a carton of ice-cream. ;) Anyways, because the weather was nice yesterday, I was able to wear this between-seasons outfit!

Our Favorite Comments // Vol. 1

Our Favorite Comments // Vol. 1
Happy Monday everyone!
You might be wondering at the title of this post. I'll gladly explain–after receiving quite a few informative comments on my Hair Parlor post last week, I was suddenly struck by this thought, "What if we began to put up posts in honor of our followers' comments of encouragement, support, and great ideas!" I took this idea to the girls and they liked it just as much as I. Thus, here I am writing a post for you all today! Take a bow ladies! Your thoughts and kind words are the fuel that keeps us going!

Classy on Sunday // Autumn at Last

Classy on Sunday // Autumn at Last
Hello hello!
There are probably many differences in the way Autumn officiates itself in each State, but I think that last week marked the "full bloom" of the season here in Southern Ohio. Every Summer I anticipate this time of year with many wonderings and thoughts about what vibrant colors the leaves will show, and thankfully I have yet to be disappointed by the autumnal pallet. I was quite inspired by what I was observing out our windows last week, thus it was without much hesitation that I plucked this dress off its hanger to wear it to Sunday service.

Remembering WWII // Fellowship

Remembering WWII // Fellowship
Hey y'all! Wow! What did I just say? Y'all? Really? Yep, really. That is what you get for staying three days down in Linden Tennessee–the pretty contagious way of speaking about the third person plural. Haha! Oh dear! Well, it was such a crazy whirlwind of hours of fellowship, meeting person after wonderful person, and singing–can't forget the singing part–that I am not sure we three will be able to do justice to this week's account of Remembering WWII. But many things must be said. Okay, no going back now... Let's begin with the time our family spent in fellowship with everyone who gathered for this momentous occasion.

1940's Weekend

1940's Weekend
A few weeks ago the Cincinnati History Museum hosted a 1940's weekend, complete with old cars, 1940's style music and re-enactors in period costume. For those of you who don't know, the Cincinnati History Museum is at the Union Terminal (a miniature of it is picture above), one of the most famous train stations in the U.S. So of course we girls had to go!

Outfit // Happy in My Own Backyard

Outfit // Happy in My Own Backyard
Hello hello!
While in the midst of a blogging meeting (ooh, a little behind the scenes secret...) we three were trying to figure out what to do for today's post, and both Brigid and Charlotte suggested I post an outfit. Well, sure! Why not? Um... what kind of outfit? In the end I made up my mind to share a simple "everyday" kind of ensemble, and so this refashioned dress is what I came up with. Hope you like it! I also want to share some of my own personal musings for this week, so lets begin! (Just for the record, I am not allowed to tell you the names of my funny photo "props") :)

Wizard of Ahhs!

Wizard of Ahhs!
"Toto, I don't believe we're in Kansas anymore."

I don't know if you have noticed, but it seems to me that I have hardly kept up with all of your uplifting comments you put on my posts (which I will take a second and thank you all for blessing me with your sweet words!).  Nor have I touched my Pinterest boards; and I have been having the hardest time finding an opportunity to read or even to comment on other blogs! I know the reason why though–Spring is in full swing here, and there is much to be done around the house when I am not busy working at the Greenhouse. Truly, I think this has been the busiest Spring in my life! Even though it was daunting to look at from the beginning point of view (I'll admit, I did break down a few times), now that I am in the midst of hustle and bustle, I have found it to be quite fun and fulfilling! Soli Deo Gloria (To God be the glory)!

Classy on Sunday // Stripes and Silk

Classy on Sunday // Stripes and Silk
Hello there!
It seems like an age has gone by since I wore this vintage piece for Sunday, three weeks ago! The thoughts of what it was like wearing the darling thing are still fresh in my memory, probably due to how nice an experience it was. I don't believe I have yet worn a silken garment, but to say that silk is overrated is a bad assumption. I was thoroughly impressed and surprised by its airy quality; though it was a rather warm day, I didn't notice at all, even with long sleeves! But there! With any such natural fiber, one never really suffers in the heat because of the way the fiber acts to keep you cool and comfortable.

Lately // Spring Snapshots

Spring Snapshots
Well folks, it's official: Spring is here! At last the long, long months of snow, cold and more cold are over! Well, so we think, at least. Here in Ohio you can never tell if you're in for a blizzard or tornado, so we'll see what happens ;) Even if the nippy winds and grey atmosphere stick around for the next few weeks, I am at least thankful for the hope of new life and... Green! Beautiful, lush, vibrant green!... And pink, and red, and blue, and... Oh! Just color in general! :D It's so delightful seeing the tips of little shoots and leaves plucking up from under the dead turf. Such an incredible story of contrast God has given us in the transition of the seasons!

What Happened After Christmas

50mm photos_0121
After Christmas, came the Yuletide Ball. I was one of the prominent photographers to record the event (you saw the pictures I took here), and I wanted to do something a bit different, more special than turning up my ISO and getting a bunch of grainy so-so photographs. So I toyed a little bit with the idea of borrowing a 50mm lens from my photographer friend Jo. I was pretty darn thrilled when she complied with my little dream. We picked up the lens the next morning, and I play with it all day. Oh my. You should have seen me! I was prancing and squealing around the house like a little 5 year old with a new toy, clicking the shutter like crazy! Up until then, my passion for photography had mellowed quite a bit, and photographing an outfit or everyday event became a bit mundane and uninspiring… Borrowing this lens gave me a gallon of fuel to start my engine again and once more click the shutter!

Snow + Christmas

DECEMBER 2013_16
Hello all!
So, as I am very short on time, I will make this post brief, and let the many pictures speak for themselves. Over the past few days, the Christmas spirit has finally begun to sink into our home. We found some spare time to set up our holiday decor in the midst of performance preparation and execution; and many inches of snow have fallen on the ground, enveloping our humble little countryside in a beautiful "Winter Wonderland"! This is my first Christmas with my new camera, so I was rather thrilled to capture some snowy, holiday-esque photographs! Especially the bokeh tree effect I always see everyone do… yes, that was rather fun :) Anyway, enjoy the photos, and let me know how you've been getting into the Christmas spirit down below! I'd love to hear :)

Lately (#12)

Oh my! Can you believe it's already the latter end of October?! As I was sitting down to do school this morning I reflected for a second and realized that we are actually in the middle of Fall, people! I seriously can't believe it!

Lately (#11)

IMG_0251
Good day, my dears!
This week has been much calmer and peaceful than previously, with many break-throughs (check out the updated nav bar ^^ We're on pinterest :D); and high anticipations for fast coming events: singing appointments speedily approaching...oh and just 6 weeks till the National Bible-Bee! Yes, we as a family will be volunteering again this year! Yay :D My only worries right now are getting all my ducks in a row as far as wardrobe goes... I hate going on a trip with things that I'm not excited about wearing... Call me frivolous if you like, but I really can't stand being stuck with a (very) limited selection of things that I don't really like. Get's my motivation down ;P

Lately (#10)

GHAHHPFFTAA!!
Okay, so maybe that wasn't the best way to begin this post, but that *ahem* expression is really the best way I can describe this week: GHAHHPFTAA!!! (AKA: a crazy past 7 days filled with incredible ups and downs and new windows opening in mine and my sister's singing career...)
I get giddy at some of the things that have happened, and I am continually hosting butterflies in my stomach, I'm so excited/stressed/amazed!! God has blessed me and my sisters with such an amazing life, filled to the brim with His providence!
Alright, now that I have that out of my system, onto the photos :)

Lately // The End of Summer

IMG_7915
Summer is taking it's exit this weekend, and the season of sweaters and colorful leaves is succeeding fast; bringing on a sort of nostalgic aura, at least for me, in looking back at what this Summer has brought... Festivals with friends, rich golden hours before late nightfalls, big balls of joy made up of spaghetti string zinnias, and those misty mornings anticipating the frosty cold ahead. One can't help but desire a slideshow of stills put to Imagine Dragons' lively tunes, to reminisce and soak up the last laughs before the times of hot evenings and summer dances have made their au revoir till next year.

Lately (#8)

IMG_7378
Hello!
This week has been rather quiet and mundane at home; with only a few errands here and there (including a Memorial Day Sale over at our favorite Goodwill :), sewing (yay!), impromptu photo shoots, figuring out that we have WAY to much content to only blog 5-6 times per week, but not enough time to post it all... oh, and a big step in the Boyer Sisters' (aka, us) singing career; otherwise known as learning possibly the hardest harmonies yet. Geeeze loueeeze! But hey, we're kinda profesh' now ;)

Lately (#7)

collage2-lately
Hello hello!
This week has been so pleasant, without many events or singing engagements to go to like in the past weeks. I am so thankful for a bit of peace to just live a normal life around the house, absent of much interruption. It gives one an opportunity to be busy with smaller, simpler things.
