Hello, hello!
What a wonderful season for photography we are in presently! There was a day a few weeks ago when the fall leaves were just beginning to turn, and wouldn't you know, a package from Grandma arrived! When opened, one of its contents I pulled out was a startling look alike of one of the delicate blouses worn in the Anne of Green Gables era. Suddenly, our minds gave wing to creative prowess, and a new Photo Shoot was soon in session. We like to think of it as the Avonlea Inspired Photo Shoot.

As my feet wandered into lovely places within our surroundings, I thought many a time how curious it was that my dream of clothing myself in the luxurious garb of the Edwardian time was at last livable. As ladies, we have oodles of wonderful make-believes and wishes. How we press for these dreams when the fancy strikes us! Yet, when they happen, it is as if they all were meant to; that some of our merry thoughts can become small moments of human rest, wonderment, and thankfulness. There are those who would say poo to all of this, but in my finite mind, we still ought to give praise to the Lord for letting us touch even the most minute of His gifts. Never take anything for granted, say I.
Have you been blessed with a moment of girlish pleasure lately?
Do you think it silly to dream for small pleasures,
so long as they are kept beneath the more important things in life?
Contentedly,
Jessica

These photos are absolutely beautiful, Jessica!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I am dying right now! I absolutely love all things Anne of Green Gables or Avonlea! These are fantastic pictures....both photographer and model did a wonderful job!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS! I can't take this in.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Anne of Green Gables and I love this outfit so much! The blouse is beautiful! You look absolutely charming in it!
I am in AWE. And so jealous, heehee. :-)
Oh oh oh my these photos have blown me away! I just... struggle to find the words to describe how beautiful they are... they're magical. Stunning! The third and seventh photographs (as well as the rest of them) could easily win a photo competition. Assuming Charlotte took them, when can I hire her to do my senior photographs??! And of course, Jessica, you are such a gorgeous and beautiful woman -- ultimately, you're the one that makes this shoot so lovely. :)
ReplyDelete...And I love anything Avonlea-inspired so it was lovely to see this post pop up on my dashboard.
Much love! x
These photos are stunning! The blouse is definitely reminiscent of Anne of Green Gables and Avonlea to me, which has always been one of my favourites - I even did a reading from the book for a Public Speaking exam we took at school, although I was apparently marked down for not attempting the accent! The blouse works so well with the skirt to recreate the look so well.

Great photos!!!! I've read Anne of Green Gables many times when I was little and always wanted to dress like this. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteMonika :)
Oh my goodness! That blouse his exquisite! I'm so jealous.
ReplyDeleteAnne would wear that in a heartbeat. Actually, you look very similar to
Olivia Dale in that outfit (you have lighter hair of course, but still...)

You look so beautiful!! I think it is perfectly lovely to dream like that. It's good to have some dreamtime and levity in our lives!
ReplyDeleteI love your outfit - you look just like Anne! (Except maybe the auburn hair...)
;) I love the last picture - were there any cows around, by chance?
What beautiful pictures! It's funny, because lately Becca and I have been on the look out for Edwardian clothing for a mystery night some friends are having. That blouse would be perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your outfit Jessica! It so reminds me of Anne! You are such a beautiful young lady! :D

I almost got tears in my eyes looking at the pictures. So beautiful! Not silly at all! I feel and would feel the same way! God is so amazing! He not only provides for our NEEDS, but he lets us enjoy such little pleasures that fill us with thankfulness and joy. So beautiful!

These are beautiful photographs - Yes, you wonderfully captured the feeling and look of LM Montgomery's stories - and the films based on them. Nice work! :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my word! I love the outfit, and I love the poses! You did great on capturing Avonlea. Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteDaughter of the King
Wow, Jessica, you absolutely stun in that period style. And Charlotte is such an amazing photographer. I, like most homeschooled girls, have always adored the Anne of Green Gables series, so this just made my day. :)
ReplyDeleteOhhh, simply dreamy!! I love the pictures by your "Lake of Shining Waters!" I do not think it is silly at all to dream for things like this! I dream about wearing all sorts of dresses from different eras--Victorian/civil war, Regency, Edwardian, Titanic/teens, '20s/Downton Abbey, even medieval costumes (like Arwen and Eowyn in the Lord of the Rings)! So far, my "having a Regency ball" dreams are being realized, so I know exactly what you mean! It can feel frivolous or unimportant, but I absolutely think it is just another thing to praise God for!
ReplyDeleteI think it's partly due to pure childlike imagination; and it would be a pity to kill that imagination!
Lovely photos, too, by the way!!
Wow, how elegant! The pictures are absolutely beautiful! And you look stunning, Jessica!
ReplyDeleteLydia
Simply stunning picture, outfit, and young lady!!! I love Road to Avonlea and Anne of Green Gables, so it was so fun to see some pictures that captured them!

ReplyDeleteJessica, you look absolutely beautiful, and Charlotte did a great job with the photography, as well.
I loved your post- the ability to recognize the small and simple moments of beauty in life is a wonderful thing, even more so to give thanks and glory to God for it. This was a lovely post and photo shoot.
Megan
Oh my goodness! Your outfit does remind me of what Anne of Green Gables would wear! Lovely photos!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely gorgeous! Such a great opportunity you had to live out that girly dream! :) I was just thinking about how I need to re-read the Anne books sometime soon...it's been about ten years!
ReplyDeleteApparently (since I am late seeing this) there is consensus: Jessica is gorgeous and the blouse is amazing! ;)
ReplyDeleteThat final photo really cracks me up! I love it! You did a great job of really looking startled there, Jessica.
I do not think it silly to dream of small pleasures...it's rather like what Anne said about the impending picnic, "Looking forward to something is half the pleasure." (Forgive the roughness of the paraphrase, it's been a couple years since I last indulged myself in the enjoyment of reading through the Anne books.) Of course, if those dreams take over our lives and cause us discontent...then it is not good. But so long as that does not happen, I do believe they are fine. :)

Oh my goodness, these are smashing photographs! Wonderful job Charlotte-and truly inspiring! I have a soft spot for Avonlea so my heart kind of jumped when I saw the title! I was ohing and ahing the whole post... You look like you popped right out of the Anne era Jessica!
ReplyDeleteI think that dreaming of/for small pleasures is fine, as long as, like you mentioned, the dreams are kept in their proper order. I think that sometimes God sends us little things we've been dreaming of to encourage us in our journey on earth.
That tenth photo... so Anne of Green Gables! I love it.
ReplyDeleteLovely lovely lovely! These are absolutely perfect and elegantly Anne of Avonlea!!
ReplyDeleteI loved the Avonlea inspired photo shoot. Simply beautiful! My favorites were the ones by the water.
