Hello my dears! I am on a rampage today with vintage hair and makeup things as you can see. Why? Well, for one thing it is because this is the second to last post of the H.W.W.V., and for another, I have never ever done a post in this series before, so I am trying to "pin" down my thoughts. The girls asked me to talk about hair and makeup this time, and of course I gleefully said yes. So if you don't mind, I am just rounding up the last bits of my trailing recollections before we begin... Ok, I'm set now. Are you ready to plunge into the four eras of hair styling and makeup looks? Ah the sixties. It's really a love-hate decade for most. Some adore it in every way; others simply despise it, being blinded by a few of the horrendous revolutions and political events that took place.... and then there are those like me, who only care to take bits and pieces of the decade for fashion inspiration. This was the era for mod shifts, kitten-heels, mini-skirts, cable-knit sweaters, and beehives. I think the best way to wrap up this decade of eccentric fashions in a few keywords would be this: structured, casual, and colorful. Hello dears, Charlotte here! Today we get to cover my most absolute favorite era, from beginning to end: the 1950s. Why do I love this era so much? Well, at the start of it you have adorable designs that still harken back to the 40s; the middle has the absolute splendor of huge skirts and eccentric details; and then at the later end, the conservative, ever-classic fashions of the 60s start trickling in (think Dick Van Dyke style)... Oh how I do adore this era! Anyhow, we get to be inspired today by these gorgeous fashions for our holiday outfits, so let's dig in, shall we?

What a wonderful season for photography we are in presently! There was a day a few weeks ago when the fall leaves were just beginning to turn, and wouldn't you know, a package from Grandma arrived! When opened, one of its contents I pulled out was a startling look alike of one of the delicate blouses worn in the Anne of Green Gables era. Suddenly, our minds gave wing to creative prowess, and a new Photo Shoot was soon in session. We like to think of it as the Avonlea Inspired Photo Shoot.

Hello Dearies! How's the weather out there? Here in Ohio it's been chilly in the mornings, pleasant at noon, and just chilly enough at night to make you want to wrap yourself in a cozy blanket. As you all know, my sisters and I are going to be heading down to Tennessee for a WW2 reenactment at the end of September. Happy Thursday :) I am so excited to share with you all one of my favorite eras: the 1950's! After The Great War, people were ready to be released from the bonds of rations and wartime struggles; and indulge in picturesque lifestyles and playful, excessive aesthetics. This effected the fashions greatly, especially for women; what with Dior's New Look that resurrected the full skirts and wasp waists that were made so popular a century earlier. Bright colors, larger-than-life styles and prints, classic garden party/socialite/house-wife looks, and luxurious textiles and designs were the most popular at this point during the mid 1900s.
