The Flower Parlor // Flower Mobile Tutorial

Flower Mobile Tutorial
Oh Joy! A tutorial! I am super excited to share with all of you the work that Charlotte and I put into this very first crepe paper flower tutorial; and most of you will be happy to know that it is of my last creation, the Spring Flower Mobile. In order to pull it off, I had to recreate everything; and some items, such as the sheer blue ribbon were used up in the first mobile, so I had to use different materials for the second. Do take a look!

The Flower Parlor // Disney Princess Flowers

Disney-Princess-Flowers
Hello everyone!
Picture yourself, if you can, standing before a row of nine Princesses. They each have just arrived from their castles, each by their own mode of transportation – a magic pumpkin, flying carpet, a dashing steed, or even ones own two feet. They are here to sing to you their own life stories by just a few poetic lines. They are here to waft your imagination to their own far away lands of fairy dust and magic. They are here to bring you joy, and not just any simple joy, but the all encompassing joy of the reminder that you are a Princess too. You are a Princess, if you have been bought with a price by the King of kings, and LORD of lords, namely, Jesus Christ.

The Flower Parlor // Slow Flowers Book Review

Slow Flowers Book Review
Hello again!
Here I have for you another wonderful book of floral inspiration: Slow Flowers. This book was paired with The 50 Mile Bouquet book, which were both gifted to me by my friend, Nellie Ashmore. As you are aware, The 50 Mile Bouquet is a book which takes you on a journey of explaining the new thoughts and ideas of how sustainable flowers are becoming the new trendy, and very organic way to grow, sell, and buy lovely bunches of blossoms. Slow Flowers on the other hand, is solely a book of bouquet inspiration. Take a peak!

The Flower Parlor // VOL. 15

Hello everyone!
This will probably be the last flower bouquet you shall see this year. Wow! What did I just say? The last one? Well, you might see me come up with a few out-of-the-ordinary arrangements, comprised of moss, twigs, fall leaves, and other such things. But yes. Our flower garden, and Nellie's too has come to its end, as all things must at some time or another. Sometimes we need a rest from a seasonal activity, so that we can be excited for the one in the coming year, right?

Good afternoon, friends! Or should I say, Good Morning (he-he)!
I crafted this bouquet a while ago, and it is funny to see me sporting breezy Summer clothes in these shots, when I am now snuggled warmly in a long-sleeve T underneath a sweater vest as I type. The weather here has changed fast, and like most times, it can't seem to make up it's mind!

Flower Parlor // VOL. 10

Hello everyone,
I sure hope some of you are not suffering from the hot spell this week as we are! Whew! Hot, humid, not a cloud in sight; the perfect ingredients for a sultry few days to come. I suppose I really shouldn't complain, since it has been one of the coolest Summers. Despite our poor functioning during hot spells like this (believe me, it feels like one has to drag oneself all day long!), the bees, butterflies, dragonflies, beetles, caterpillars, and other such insects don't seem to have a problem in the least buzzing, flitting, and crawling under such weather conditions. This to me has always been such a wonderful testimony of God's handy work: even the littlest of creatures work hard keeping the earth full of good things, and helping the plants stay alive whenever it is too hot for us to do so. He provides for all things.

Flower Parlor // VOL. 9

Hello there!
How are your flowers doing this time of year? Ours are still in a pretty productive state, although the graceful beauty of some are on the verge of extinguishment. Such flowers would be: the black eyed susan's, coreopsis, phlox, foxgloves, queen anne's lace, and many others besides. Actually, I can think of only one type of flower which has persisted in displaying it's wealth of color - the Zinnia. However I will say that we have not invested time, nor money, into acquiring a wide range of long lasting Summer flowers. Thus our garden often comes to the point of shabbiness near the end of the season. Oh well. Perhaps next year will be different... Oh let it be different!

Hello there!
My goodness what a week it has been! Every day has been filled with something or other to do, such as  picking produce, canning produce, completing assignments on my to-do-list, singing in a fantastic old Opry House with a  fantastic band, just to name a few... leaving me with a little time on my hands to go over to Nellie's place to help out with her flowers. Such craziness!

As mid Summer comes to a close, I begin to think about the changes we will soon see in our garden, and all throughout the Ohio valley region. While I look outside and sense the sun kissed air moving through our house, I feel content to let the rest of the season slip as slowly away as it possibly can. I love the blissful days of late Summer!

Last week I was quite inspired by the weather to make the drying bouquet you see above and below. It clearly portrays the essence of moistureless Summertime.

Flower Parlor // Vol. 5

Hello everyone?

How has your week been? Mine has been filled up so much since the last Flower Parlor post, that I thought I wouldn't be able to get to make any bouquets with my friend Nellie this week! Not to mention  come up with one for this post! Thankfully, I was able go over to her house yesterday. And take a look at the beauties we get to work with now! Aren't they spectacular?!

Flower Parlor // VOL. 4

Hello everyone,
This week's bouquet was designed with a lavender/white color theme in mind. Oddly enough, the bouquet matched my outfit, and though I normally stay away from the purple pallet, I do like the colors on me every once in a while; but most especially I adore them in a bouquet.

The Flower Parlor // VOL. 2

Hello everyone!

I have another bouquet to share with you all, and as you can see it is filled with the bright colors of Summertime. Its amazing to me how I never ever create the same bouquet twice; each one always seems to have a story and character all of its own.

The Flower Parlor // VOL. 1

Hello dear friends,

I, Jessica, am very pleased to introduce you all to this new post series called the Flower Parlor! Now as you have probably noticed, I have not been posting many things lately due to my being busy elsewhere. But thanks to Brigid and Charlotte's advice, I have decided it would be fun to share with all of you what in the world I have been doing.
