Hello dear friends,
I, Jessica, am very pleased to introduce you all to this new post series called the Flower Parlor! Now as you have probably noticed, I have not been posting many things lately due to my being busy elsewhere. But thanks to Brigid and Charlotte's advice, I have decided it would be fun to share with all of you what in the world I have been doing.
A few months ago in late Winter, I asked one of our good friends, Joanna Dell's mom who is a florist, if I could possibly help her and learn from her all about arranging bouquets. She said yes! And ever since the middle of Spring until just a few weeks ago, I have been able to go about once a week over to her flower studio and help with the gorgeous wedding flowers. Its been a wonderful experience! Thanks again Mrs. Dell!
Another wonderful person I have gotten to know really well through my interest in flowers, is the lovely Nellie Ashmore. She is the gardener of the beautiful array of flowers you see in this bouquet in the above and below pictures! Aren't they just brimming over with life and beauty?
The Anatomy of the Bouquet |
Nellie and her family live on a certified organic farm just down the road from us. They sell their organically grown produce all summer long at the farmers markets around where we live. If any of you live around us and are interested in buying some farm fresh organic produce, I would highly recommend you visit their website here.
A few weeks back, I had the opportunity to see Nellie again, and I told her all about my experience with Mrs. Dell. Nellie then told me that she had taken on her mom's flower business this year, and explained a little bit about it. You can visit her website here. Not long after that, I received an invitation from her to come to the farm for a day to help her pick and bouquet the flowers from her garden. I was hooked!
Ever since that first day, I have grown in more ways than one from Nellie's knowledge of growing and even selling her flowers. My appreciation for flowers has always been on the slim side, especially when I was much younger, but with the expertise from Mrs. Dell, and Nellie's passion for them, I have become very fond of the world of flowers! I hope you all will too (if some of you aren't already)!
My favorite flowers in this bouquet are the Yarrow. They add texture as well as fill up any wanting spaces. |
Enjoy the flowers today!
Love,

P.S. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses!
Great idea! I like the veronicas best.

That bouquet is so pretty and fresh!
ReplyDeleteThe yarrow instantly caught my eye, because we only have white yarrow in our yard. The maroonish/pink colored yarrow is really pretty too. I like it.
Hope you have lots more fun with flowers!
