Sears & Roebucks (#8) //Late 1920's

HistoricCatalogsofSearsRoebuckandCo18961993_1930_187673570
Hello Dearies! After a few months of meaning to do one myself, but Charlotte doing them instead, I get to do a Sears & Roebucks post! Therefore, being not-so-keen on the early 60's as Charlotte, I thought I would give you all a taste of something older. Let's go to the 1930's!
I absolutely love those printed suits above, don't you? Why don't they make those anymore? And just look at those colors! Red, teal green, isn't that flow-y orange frock just scrumptious?

Sears & Roebucks Catalog Clippings (#7)

It's been a little while since we've done one of these posts, hasn't it? Well, as we're getting into the latter part of Summer, and Autumn is well on its merry, chilly way; we'd best look into some nice vintage inspiration to perk us up to our F/W wardrobe, shouldn't we? I am so, so, so excited for making new dresses and separates for myself later this season, as my style has changed to a bit since I last decked out in on of my cooler weather garments.

Sears & Roebucks Catalog Clippings (#6)

   Hello again!
Well! It's about time I'd say we get back into the voluminous documents of Sears and Roebucks, wouldn't you? This week I dug up some late 50's breezy summer styles for you all! I don't know about you, but here in the bit of Ohio that we live in, the weather is close and hot, so tank tops, breezy knee-length skirts and light day dresses are the ideal these days!
You can NEVER go wrong with breezy shirt-waist dresses or polka-dot wrap skirts! Simply darling, if you ask me (though I would be smoking hot in those knee socks and long sleeves! Oh deary me lol)

Sears & Roebucks Catalog Clippings (#4) // Spring Event Inspired

With graduations, formals, weddings, and all the rest of 'em coming our way very soon at this time of year- we ladies will probably be searching for that perfect gown to wear to those special events.

At a lack of old-timey inspiration for that quintessential frock? Never fear! Today I have rallied up some fabulous examples from our ever reliable 1950's Sears & Roebucks Catalogs to assist you in deciding what silhouette, print, etc. you might want that costume to be!

Sears & Roebucks Catalog Clippings (#3)

I decided to do this post today instead of Friday, as tomorrow (Lord willing!) we will be filming our Q&A video... (questions anyone?) So without further ado...
For the third post in our series of digital clippings from the magical, voluminous catalogs of Sears & Roebucks, I have a special treat for you! Fabulous fabrics simply bursting at the weave with spring and color!

Sears & Roebucks Catalog Clippings (#2)

Today marks the second ever S&RCC day! Yay!
So this page was apart of a series of pages within the catalog of Spring 1956, which always begin with the tag line: "Young America..." this particular clipping saying the "Young America Likes to Dress Up" (Sorry, I couldn't find the first page of the spread in our downloads... :P)
Aren't these dresses simply delicious? Pastel lace, intricate piping, darling bow details... I am particularly taken by the pink one! Wouldn't that make the most perfect party dress? Although I must say it would be rather heavy with all that lace, and lining... Not so great for the summer dances that we host every year lol!
I also actually own a dress very much like the blue one as far as the piping and color goes... You can see it here.

Which is your favorite?

TTFN,
lwb

Sears & Roebucks Catalog Clippings (#1)

I am sooooo excited to introduce this new post series to y'all, as it feature one of mine and Brigid's most favorite vintage resources in the whole-wide-world; that is, the vintage Sears & Roebucks Catalogs!

Now before we go on, I would like to thank Rochelle who brought the availability of these files on Ancestry.com to our attention! When we found out that we could both access & save the files to our computer, Brigid and I pretty much died! I've often found myself wishing to post on the blog about some adorable, inspirational page from a few reproduction catalogs of Brigid's, but, because of copyright restrictions, was not able to without some hassle. Thank you again, Rochelle for letting us know about this treasure; and Ancestry for making these files available! :D
I would seriously recommend you getting a free trial on Ancestry, if only for the use of these files.

So onto what the posts are about:
As you can tell from the title, the posts will initially feature one (or two) digital "clippings" from the Sears & Roebucks Catalogs of the 1920s through early 60s. Sound fun? Good!
Here we go...
Sears & Roebucks Catalog, Fall 1958
Sears & Roebucks Catalog, Fall 1958
I fell in love right off the bat when I found this page, and several others like it. The sweaters are absolute bliss, don't you think? Just look at those bows and color blocking details on letter B, or the darling polka-dots on letter D! Seriously, I wouldn't mind just flipping through pages and pages of such fabulous jumpers... Nor own a few of them ;)

Which sweater is your favorite?
