For the third post in our series of digital clippings from the magical, voluminous catalogs of Sears & Roebucks, I have a special treat for you! Fabulous fabrics simply bursting at the weave with spring and color!
The first "clipping" is a page of darling crepey rayon "Gone With the Wind" prints; "Petal-Smooth, Pre-Shrunk, and Luxable", they say. My how enticing ;) I personally would covet a dress manufactured from the #8 print... Perfect for Independence Day, wouldn't you say?
I know that the "Gone With the Wind" movie was pretty popular back then, as it seems soooo much clothing, hats, fabrics, etc. were inspired by that movie. Have you ever seen it? Is it good?
I don't know about you, but it seems to me like rayon was the fiber of the day back in the 40s, so it's rather nice finding clothing and fabric that were actually made of more accessible (to us 21st century folks) materials like cotton. Easier to recreate, ya know? I particularly like to employ these pages for reference when I'm fabric shopping to be as historically accurate as I can, not that I'm super strict (at all) about that type of thing. I just think it fun to add those touches here and there that reminisce back to the olden days when that article of clothing might've actually been made...
Okay, who here is in love with that dress?? Hmm?? Show of comments anyone?! Absolutely adorable if you ask me :D And her shoooooeesss...... Okay, we're talking fabric here, enough about the clothes *ahem.* Oh wait! Never mind! Peer down real close to the model's feet... Do you see? Yes!! they actually sold a pattern for that dress *squee*
Not sure about the shoes though... ;)

Loooovvvveeee the shoes!!! I have never seen Gone With The Wind, and have wondered if it is good too... wish I could find a site that had reviews of old movies.:/
