Our Favorite Comments // Vol. II

Hello everyone! Its that time of the week again in which we bring to the forefront all of our most favorite comments! I hope you all enjoy as you read what a few of our followers had to say, and for those of you who wrote them, our biggest most sincere thanks to you for cheering us, helping us, and just over all being such good friends! Have fun!

Super cute! Thanks for stressing the fact that modesty is not only that you are covered but HOW you are covered (with the fit of items, specifically). That point is often overlooked.

I make my own patterns most of the time... or adapt them heavily. What I'd add - for people drawn that way - is also a good basic trouser pattern that - and this is most important - fits you well in waist, hips and the crotch area. The width or length of the legs can be easily altered, but you need it to fit you at the crucial points, because otherwise trousers can be most uncomfortable and unflattering! (Relying on stretch fabrics there you want to avoid, too.)
My basic skirt shape is A-line; that's another one you overlooked a bit, but otherwise I agree with your list wholeheartedly. Just like with trousers, you want one that fits well in waist / hips and the rest can be played with. You can attach a skirt pattern to a blouse pattern and make a dress. Or lengthen a blouse pattern for a dress.

WOW WOW WOW! GORGEOUS Pictures, photography, Clothes, Amazing! You are so beautiful Jessica! You are living my dream all dressed up like that! I almost got tears in my eyes looking at the pictures. So beautiful! Not silly at all! I feel and would feel the same way! God is so amazing! He not only provides for our NEEDS, but he lets us enjoy such little pleasures that fill us with thankfulness and joy. So beautiful!
Love,

Oh my goodness, these are smashing photographs! Wonderful job Charlotte-and truly inspiring! I have a soft spot for Avonlea so my heart kind of jumped when I saw the title! I was ohing and ahing the whole post... You look like you popped right out of the Anne era Jessica!

I think that dreaming of/for small pleasures is fine, as long as, like you mentioned, the dreams are kept in their proper order. I think that sometimes God sends us little things we've been dreaming of to encourage us in our journey on earth.

Love, love, love these photos!
Btw, you are so beautiful!
You definitely have a new follower. :)

Apparently (since I am late seeing this) there is consensus: Jessica is gorgeous and the blouse is amazing! ;)

That final photo really cracks me up! I love it! You did a great job of really looking startled there, Jessica.

I do not think it silly to dream of small pleasures...it's rather like what Anne said about the impending picnic, "Looking forward to something is half the pleasure." (Forgive the roughness of the paraphrase, it's been a couple years since I last indulged myself in the enjoyment of reading through the Anne books.) Of course, if those dreams take over our lives and cause us discontent...then it is not good. But so long as that does not happen, I do believe they are fine. :)

Wow, you three have certainly been doing some experimentation! I myself, started going shampoo free in July and it's been over 16 weeks since I started. I have been using the BS and ACV method. I know that there are some bad stories about it, but by far, I would say there are more good stories than bad. I think there are a couple of factors that effect the results people get:

1. Using a Baking soda paste. I tried this the first time I washed like this and immediately knew it was NOT going to work, so I did some research. The best way to use the baking soda is by mixing it with with water. I use a ratio of somewhere around 2 cups water to TBS soda. But I don't measure. Instead I'm looking for a "slippery" feeling in the water.

2. Using just straight ACV. I do the same thing as above but the proportions are a little bit more like 2 cups water - 4 TBS backing soda.

3. Hard water. We have VERY hard water because we are on well, and so when I initially started, my hair was disgusting! I did some research again though, and discovered that this is a reaction between the backing soda and hard water. Now, I boil the water I mix with the BS and ACV and have not had any problems since.

4. Frequency of wash. I could see the BS definitely causing problems if used everyday on someone's hair. It really isn't meant to be used that often though. Up until the last 2 weeks, I was only washing my hair with the BS and ACV about 1/ week. Recently though, I've decided to switch to 2/weekly because I run, and do various types of physical workouts that leave me sweaty and hair greasy.

5. Hair type. Everyone's hair is different so what works for me, might no work for you girls. My mom and 2 of my sisters have joined me in this experiment, and so far we have had wonderful results! That could change, but I'm kinda thinking not.

Overall, I would say it all comes down to finding what works best for you, your hair, and your lifestyle. The whole idea, I think is to experiment and gauge what you change off of how your hair is reacting. My hair (as well as my mom's and sister's) has never been healthier than it is now, but it is because I have found what works for me. By no means did I write this all out to "prove you wrong". Please don't think that! I just wouldn't want anyone who was thinking of doing it scared off from the idea, because I think for some people, it can work really well.

Thanks ever so much ladies!

Cheers!

  5. And I added my own two cents to Maria's comment at the shampoo post now, because, alas, no and no and no, as much as I would wish for a different reality.
