Sister Flair // a Pocket of Whimsy

Hello all! After a busy morning & early afternoon of singing lessons and song arranging, I am so happy to finally sit down and share with you all an amazing shop that has joined our troop of sidebar advertisers for this month: A Pocket of Whimsy! Alexis blew us away with her generous offer of sending each of us girls a dainty necklace of our choice from her bountiful selection! Want to see what we picked out?



When we opened up the envelope that contained our treasures, we were so pleasantly surprised by the adorable packaging of each necklace. It was truly Christmas in July! On top of sending each of us a little something, Alexis also included a burlap bag of 4 additional treasures: a set of three bobbie pins, and a vintage locket (which we later gave to Mom, as she contributes so much to the behind-the-scenes of our blog)! How special is that? We girls were thoroughly impressed by the time and effort Alexis puts into her costumer service!


Brigid selected Peter's Kiss Necklace, themed after the "kiss" that Peter gave to Wendy in Peter Pan. Our hearts simply melted as Brigid withdrew her charm from the box. The light-catching copper glass paired with the ornate metal top... Oh how much more precious can you get?! Also, I can't fail to mention the fact that Alexis provides chain lengths customized to your needs. Brigid decided upon a 16" chain, while Jessica got a 24", and I a 20".

In the photo above (as well as the one right below), you might also notice two darling pins that Brigid  & Jessica employed in the pinning back of their bangs. Those, my dears, are two of the three darling bobby pins from the A Touch of Nature Leaf and Bumblebee Hair Pins collection sent to us as a gift.




Jessica selected the Melody Golden Whistle Necklace for her choice from Alexis' shop. Let me tell you, I have never seen Jessica wear a necklace more than she has this one (and that is saying something about this non-necklace wearer!). It is so practical, simple, and the perfect addition to any outfit. The chain length (24") is perfect for not slipping down necklines, or getting hidden by collars. All around, I think Jessica was bang-on with her selected necklace from A Pocket of Whimsy!


I chose the Hand-Painted Gold-Finch necklace. A long, long time ago I had an adorable tiny giraffe charm that I slipped onto a chain and wore everyday around my neck. It was yellow with brown spots, and its shape was similar to that of a very small chess piece. You wouldn't believe how greatly I treasured that piece, whispering and talking to it as though the cartoon-like figurine would talk back. Ha! I was so imaginative back then :) When I saw the necklace you see me wearing above in Alexis' shop, my heart flipped. It reminded me so much of that giraffe charm that I wore so long ago! I don't know why, but there is just something that makes my heart aflutter when I see small animal charms, like my new porcelain Gold Finch. It was apparent to me just how delicate this necklace was when I pulled it out of the box, thus I have resolved to only wear it for only the most special of occasions.
