Bible Bee Outfits // Brigid

Bible Bee Outfits // Brigid
Hello Dearies! How has your week been? The past two days have been filled with bus rides and busy-ness! We are finally down in Orlando, and today is my favorite day of Nationals: Contestant Registration! I love this day of the Nationals week because I have been a tour guide on this day for the past two years, and get to be one again this year! It is so much fun being able to be one of the first people to greet a contestant family, and then escort them around the facility until we finally get to registration, hearing how many years they've come to nationals, where they came from. It is such a growing experience for me, as I normally don't like to talk to strangers, but this day helps me get out of that shell. Anyways... Would you like to see the rest of my Bible Bee wardrobe?

Monday: This is what I wore on the bus ride on Monday (if you didn't read Jessica's post yesterday, some of the volunteers took a charter bus down to Orlando from Ohio). I wanted to wear something comfy with a bit of extra layers, just because I wasn't sure how warm/cold it would be on the bus. I brought along a carry on bag with my knitting, a few books, and some movies to watch on the ride down. Have to keep my hands busy, or else the ride can be rather boring!

Tuesday: Yesterday, we finished our bus ride down to Orlando, and arrived at Nationals. After familiarizing ourselves with the facility, we got right down to work making sure everything was ready for the upcoming days. I wanted to wear something that was, again, comfortable, but also suitable for general "behind-the-scenes" volunteer work, i.e. not too casual. We got to go out to Pizza last night for dinner, after a full afternoon, which was delicious and relaxing!

Wednesday: Yay! We've finally caught up to today! I just realized that I made practically everything I'm wearing today! How cool! So, as I said above, today is Contestant Registration day, and I am a tour guide. I always like to choose comfortable shoes for Registration, since I know I am going to be walking a ton, and I have made the mistake of choosing uncomfortable shoes once before. My flats will hopefully hold up pretty well, but we will see. I also wanted to wear an outfit that I wouldn't be too concerned about how it looked, and would be easy to walk in. Choosing my Palazzo pants, finessed with a vest and necklace, seemed like an obvious choice, but today will prove if they were the best choice for me to wear. :)

Thursday: This day is contest day, and I actually get to participate in the judging this year (only assisting the judges, mind you). In years past I've had my duties in the Family Fun area where contestants come to wait after they've finished their oral tests, and until their division is released. That has been fun at times, but I am always exhausted by the end of the day. I don't doubt that I'll still be exhausted, but probably in a different way. At least we'll have a nice calm evening... oh wait! Thursday night is the Opening Ceremony! That's why I chose this outfit, because I didn't want to go back to our hotel room to change after a long full day of judging. I wanted to look official, but dressy too, and this classic outfit fit the bill.

Friday: On this day, I just have general volunteer work, including being a door host, setting up and tearing down various events, as well as manning the info booth. As usual, I wanted to look official and business like, so I went with a very office-looking dress that we girls received as a hand-me-down from a friend.

Saturday, daytime: This day is going to be pretty similar to Friday, as far as general volunteer work. We have a luncheon to set up, I'm going to be a door host again, etc. etc. All the exciting stuff doesn't come until later Saturday night...

Saturday, evening: Tonight's the night! We have the Closing Ceremony, and afterwards there's hopefully going to be a square dance! I may or may not dance, depending on how tired we all are after our full week. I may just end up dancing at least one Virginia Reel though! On Sunday we get to come home on another very long bus ride, and boy, will it be good to be home! Bible Bee Nationals is such a lovely, exciting time, but it is very exhausting too, and being able to rest without having to get up early or stay up late will be nice.

Which outfit is your favorite?
Have you ever been to Bible Bee Nationals?
What are the most comfortable, but classy, shoes you own?

Blessings,

Brigid

  1. That office-look dress is definitely my favourite! I looks like it could come out of a vintage photograph! Gorgeous! Give. it. to. me. :-)

  2. What beautiful outfits, Brigid! I wish I was going to Bible Bee Nationals because I've wanted to for awhile, but I haven't been able to go yet. I hope to hear more from all of you about how everything went :)

  3. Oh, these are lovely! My favorite would have to be the third to last one. I love the classy style and the brown blouse. :) But I also love how you pulled off the Palazzo pants with such style and class. I hope you are having a wonderful time!

  4. What great outfits Brigid! I must say number three would be my favorite for sure! It is so neat to see an entire outfit that you made blend so well together- and with your new palazzos to boot! Isn't wearing clothes you made just the best?! Number two is smashing as well! The colors are so admirable for this season! So rich yet cozy...

Have a wonderful time dear! I bet being part of such a wonderful event is so neat! Our family would love to attend some year! Ha ha! Oh- and I know what you mean about the dancing, but you now, once you get started it is so hard to stop! After the Civil War reenactment was over, they had a barn dance (with dances like you described) we were SO tired. But we ended up dancing from 7-10:30 non stop! Even though we went "just to see what was going on." Boy were we tired! But it's so worth it! :)

    Love,
    Cassie

I'm such a fan of the Chevron dress / Denim jacket look! That and the Friday dress -- they're both gorgeous!

  7. I love the black top - patterned skirt outfit best! Slight nod to the twenties there I think. Now I wish I had a pattern for the skirt - although with November marching in perhaps a floaty skirt isn't the best idea in my neck of the woods.

Hope you had a good time - Virginia Reeling is good fun!

  8. Lovely! I adore those red sandals!
Hmmm...I guess if I had to pick, the black and white outfit.

Ohhh, you girls just have the most sumptuous outfits! Yours are simply dreamy! Every single one after the bus ride outfit is my favorite.

Could you perhaps tell me what material you used for your Thursday dress? It looks so light and airy, I love it. Probably not quilter's cotton! :P

I have never been to Bible Bee Nationals, but I wish I did, especially with the Virginia Reel at the end!!! I've danced that, and it's tons of fun!!

  11. Fun outfits, Brigid! It sounds like you're having/will continue to have an amazing time.
My brown ballet flats are probably the most comfy + classy shoes I own, but they are getting stretched out! Time for some new shoes perhaps.

  13. My favorite is the floral dress at the end, but I really love the chevron dress with jean jacket. I'm usually not a big fan of chevron, but this outfit is so flattering and just perfect. I also love the Saturday daytime outfit.

  14. Though short 'n' sweet, I'm SO thankful to have been able to meet all 3 of you lovely ladies! So blessed by your joyful hearts and hard work poured into each day. :) My faves of these would be Tuesday & Saturday daytime, but all are so classy and perfect for nationals! Much love!
