Hey there!
We have a big surprise for you all–we are volunteering at the National Bible Bee this week down in Orlando Florida! Since we thought you all would love to know what we are going to wear, each one of us prepared a post to show you our different outfits we will be wearing for every day of the whole week of volunteering! Sound fun? Let's see what I picked out.

Top: Thrifted // Skirt: Made by Mom // Stockings: Target // Shoes: Kohls // Jacket: Gap
Monday: We traveled all day yesterday in a Chartered Bus before bedding down for the night at our halfway point of the journey (oh yes, the volunteers from Bible Bee head quarters all took a Chartered Bus down to Florida! So fun!), and so I wanted to wear something that would keep me comfortable all day long. A simple cotton sweater to keep me warm, but not stifling; a cotton, knee length skirt that looks good even after a long bus ride; and a denim jacket for the pit stops we had to make (it wouldn't get warm until later on that night).

Dress: Thrifted // Sweater: Thrifted // Shoes: Hand-me-down

Top: Target // Sweater: Gifted // Pants: Made by me // Shoes: Hand-me-down
Wednesday: My tasks for tomorrow will be geared around helping out with the Bible Bee E-Store, and tour guiding the contestant families around the C.C.. Thus, a lot of moving around and walking a lot! And if you all remember from Brigi's Palazzo Pants post, she mentioned I had made a pair and would be wearing them. Well, I will wear them tomorrow, and I have to say I am just super excited to pull them on and enjoy every minute I am in them! Aren't they the. best. pants. ever? They're flowy, and light, with a great deal of comfort in the waist, and they spell Nautical completely! Oh I cant wait!!! :) I matched my navy striped T-shirt and white cotton sweater with them, to complete the look. I know it will be warm down in Florida, but we will be inside all day in an air conditioned building. I always get cold, so the sweater is a must have.

Top: Thrifted // Skirt: ThredUp // Shoes: Hand-me-down
Thursday: I know, I know, I am still wearing the same sandals, but honestly, these are the only sandals that go with everything, and are terribly comfortable to wear. I will be a Preliminary Judges assistant today (sound scary?) and so I will be sitting for a great majority of the time. Thus I decided to wear one of my more "delicate" ensembles, pairing my nearly-sheer silk top with a very lightweight cotton skirt. I typically get cold when I sit for a long time, so I will probably be bringing along a sweater into the Judging room with me. Later that night we all will be attending the Opening Ceremony. I love that part!

Dress: Clothes Mentor // Shoes: Saltwater Sandals
Friday: A conglomeration of activities will be keeping me on my toes for most of Friday, and so I wanted to be as comfortable shoe wise as possible. Thus I chose to wear my darling Saltwater Sandals. In keeping with this beach-y theme, I went for my khaki, or sandy, colored dress. It's not quite as nautical... more or less safari I should think... but anyhow it will not really matter what I wear on that day because I will be involved in the women's set-up and tear down crew for the morning, and then helping out with the E-Store team all afternoon.

Dress: Target // Sweater: Hand-me-up // Shoes: Hand-me-down
Saturday Afternoon: On the very last day we will be volunteering I will be waking up bright and early to put on this simple, yet sleek outfit before heading out to the C.C. to help out with the Information Booth. Again I will be assigned to the E-Store, and after that to a very important part of Bible Bee Nationals. Hmm... I am not permitted to say what I will be participating in, but it should be fun! After that activity is over I will be skipping back to our room for a brief change to put on...

Dress: Made by Brigid // Shoes: Toms Wedges
Saturday Evening: This! The stripes, style, and even shoes demand the title of Nautical Flare, no? Why will I have to change? Well for the very reason that we will be attending the Closing Ceremony, which will be completed by a fabulous Reception time. I am not sure what will be going on at the Reception, but with every year there is a grand celebration, and I believe there is dessert involved! Yum! :)
Accessories: Because of the time crunch I had in racing in and out of the house to change outfits before the rain hit, I neglected to put on my Nautical Inspired Accessories. Thanks to the incredible Etsy shop, A Pocket of Whimsy, all three of us were able to go to Florida with something special to wear around our necks or in our hair, like me!
Note: I plan to wear my sea shell bobby pins in my hair close to the way I styled them in the review.
Which outfit did you like the best?
What would you wear down in Florida?
Have you ever visited Orlando before?
Many blessings to you all!

How fun! I particularly love the chevron dress! I will be in Orlando on Friday. Yay Florida! :D
ReplyDeleteOh my, I LOVE the chevron dress and palazzo pants! How adorable!
ReplyDeleteThey are all so lovely! I LOVE your striped dress that Brigid made for you! It's gorgeous! As for what I'd wear in Florida, I'm not really sure... I've never been there before. I imagine probably summery stuff similar to yours. Have a great time at the Bible Bee!
ReplyDeleteI love the last two dresses the best !! So, so cute, and they fit you just perfectly. I love your blog, I just discovered it a few weeks ago. Oh, and the palazzo pants are awesome too !
ReplyDeleteI love the last outfit, but they are all beautiful! And I think this was a wonderful post idea.
ReplyDeletedance a real
For sure the palazzo pants are my favorite if these outfits.
ReplyDeleteI would probably end up in shorts and a tank top a good deal of the time, in stark contrast to
You, I'm always HOT! Kinda funny.
I've been to FL, but not Orlando specifically.

wonderful outfits, Jessica! how smart of you gals to share these with us. i particularly like the very first picture.
ReplyDeleteso cool that you all are helping with the Bible Bee. my family and i participated the first few years, but sadly have slacked off in our participation, mostly due to the facts of moving one year and the lack of local Bees in our area. So anyway, i knew just what you were talking about when the Bible Bee has been mentioned. I've never been to a national one... that must be great fun!!
can't wait to see more, girls.

The outfits are all really pretty! I was wondering, what pattern did Brigid use for the chevron dress? And will she be sharing her process for drafting the palazzo trousers pattern? I would really like to know how she did it!
ReplyDeleteOrlando! Land of traffic jams!! :D It's three hours north of our home place down there (yes, ma'am, I'm a Florida girl living in the mid-west) and I have been there multiple times for various reasons. Needless to say, it isn't my favorite place in the world. ;)
ReplyDeleteAs to what I would wear in Florida...hmm...depends on where I was and what I was doing, but for something of this sort: cotton skirts and sleeveless or short-sleeve shirts (preferably button up). Footwear...sandals of some sort, I reckon, though I have been known to wear my cowboy boots in the city.
And...I think...I like the pants outfit the best. It's so cute!! Close second is the last dress...it looks like something I would wear, only I'd put a belt on it (I belt nearly everything). :)
Love the outfits! My favorites would be your blue plaid dress, and your safari like dress. I hope you have a great time! I'll be praying for ya'all! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great wardrobe of items Jessica! Hmm...My favorites would have to be numbers 1, 3, and 4. And geee...Your pallazzo pants are just adorable! They look so cute on you! I'd love to see more outfits of how you style them.
ReplyDeleteI so appreciate you ladies sharing these outfit collections!
Oh- and will you be sharing a live link this year to stream the Bee from? Our family LOVED following along last year! Or if you know of another spot could you share it? Thank yee! :)
Love,
Cassie
Lovelovelove these, especially Monday and Saturday evening! Enjoy warm Orlando; it's been chilly today back here in the Midwest!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE every one of your outfits, but the palazzo pants outfit really stands out as a favorite! I love how the sweater is just. perfect. And yes, the chevron dress. I think I've seen you wear it before on here, and I like it so much I want to make one similar someday! (Lovely piece, Brigid! What pattern did you base it on? Is it accessible?)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I have to say that the sandals you wore in Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday are kind of awesome. They went well with the teal outfit, put together the palazzo pants outfit, and perfectly complemented the silk shirt outfit. :)
Adorable outfits!! I love the final one (Saturday evening)- that dress is so pretty and I LOVE those wedges!! I'm a shoe girl- like I REALLY love shoes... :) Have fun at the Bible Bee!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Grace
Lovely outfits! Your aqua plaid dress is my favorite. :) How fun that you had a Nautical theme.
ReplyDeleteYou were assistant judge in my room. :)
ReplyDeleteI live about 75 miles from Orlando. I've been to the Convention Center a few times and it's awesome! We are still waiting for Autumn to start here in Florida, but you are definitely right to bring cardigans and jackets as the air conditioning can make it arctic indoors. My favorite outfit is the plaid dress with the balero jacket. I also love the tan skirt and turquoise top. They are fairly casual yet so feminine, which I love. I used to have a tan "safari" type dress like the one you're wearing here, which I loved, but it no longer fit right after I had a baby. It's a very versatile dress. Sounds like a great trip!
ReplyDeleteJessica! It was so wonderful seeing you again. So blessed by your radiantly joyful, encouraging spirit :) I would have loved to talk more, but treasure the moments we did! Thank you so much for your inspiration and kindness and again for the sweet blog comment! Mmmkay, tough choice, but my favorites of these are probably Wednesday & Saturday evening. I was a little stumped at first with combining both fall outfits and FL outfits and am inspired by how you nailed the combination of the two. :) Much love and thanks again for your encouragement + all the diligence your family poured into this week!!
