Classy on Sunday // Mixing Prints

Hey friends! Today I have a very bold, absolutely pure fun outfit to share with you all! You know those outfits that you see on pinterest and think, "oh if only I had it in my closet to recreate that!" Well, this is that outfit for me. It's kind of like the epitome of fall style for my wardrobe, all wrapped into one outfit: tall boots, a plaid scarf, printed pencil, jeweled cardigan (!!!), cozy coat and berry red lips.




I originally wore the scarf, shown above, for warmth; but once I thought about it, it actually made for a bit of a whimsical attribute to my outfit. I think I am definitely the most print-mixing person in my family. If you were to look in my closet right now, all you would see is striped & floral tops, and plaid skirts. With maybe a solid wool skirt and cardigan mixed in here and there. Yes, it is a bit of a challenge getting dressed each morning, trying to figure out which prints aren't too wild to match each other, but I feel that print mixing is a bit of a signature for me right now. I know that one's style evolves over years and years, but pretty prints have always won over solids for me. No matter how hard I try, a new striped sailor top lands in my shopping cart before any solid T ever had a chance to weasel it's way in. What about you? Solids or Print mixing?

Another wardrobe dilemma: 3/4 sleeve tops. Does anyone else deal with this problem?! I just think that clothing companies just should never have offered those to the public, because it makes my wardrobe decisions even more unpractical than they are already (i.e: print mixing). Those sleeves were maybe made for the stylish winter birds that fly down to the South for the colder months. I'm just a little sparrow trying to pull off the cute, too-short sleeves in the cold North. Oh, help me! Why do they have to look SO much more adorable then full-length sleeves?! Why?!

I have always been a bit fashion-obsessive, and choose anything that looks nice over something that actually will suit the weather. Take for example, when we lived on the west coast: I would wear my summer tank tops and short skirts in the middle of Winter. And Washington really isn't all that warm in the Winter. Yes, I think I was very much fashion obsessed in my single-digit years. Yes, very much so.

Even this year, I haven't been warm once in my normal clothes all Autumn. That is, until Mom bought me the most perfect long-sleeve cardigan and I slipped that on over my cute J. Crew pullover (yes, it had 3/4 length sleeves. Go ahead, judge me, and tell me you wouldn't have gone for it too), and BOOM! Warmth!! Hopefully this Winter will teach me to go for practicality over fashion. Because, you know, warmth is so much more comfortable than the cutest mid-length sleeve cardigan or pullover. Right?
