Hello dearies! Remember how we mentioned earlier that there would be another giveaway this month after the lovely Sense & Sensibility giveaway? Weeellll, this is that giveaway! After seeing this inspiration post on our blog, the director of Gütermann of America (the American side of the German thread business), contacted us asking if we would like to host a giveaway for some of their thread as they are celebrating their 150th anniversary this year. Of course we said YES!!!
After buying my vintage machine I was advised to get some better quality thread than the average Coats & Clark, as it was messing with my tension. I tried Gütermann thread and I was sold! This thread is a dream to work with. The quality is amazing, and why wouldn't it be? They have been around for a century and a half! Now I call that a legacy!

So, what do you win? You win this lovely pack of five spools of Gütermann's 100% Polyester thread in five basic colors: Black, Grey, Cream, White and Red. This thread is of the highest quality, and since I've switched to using Gütermann I've never looked back. Polyester thread has an amazing range of uses as opposed to Cotton thread (though Gütermann does sell some lovely 100% cotton thread as well); you can use it to sew with silk, rayon, polyester (duh!), acrylic, and even cotton fabrics, making it the perfect apparel sewing thread.

Now that I've hopefully convinced you all of the wonderful qualities of Gutermann thread, you can enter the giveaway using the Rafflecopter widget below. The giveaway is open until 4/7/2014 at 12:00 noon. So enter now!!!
Giveaway is open internationally.
Have you ever used Gütermann thread?
Blessings,
Brigid

I'd love to get some Gutermann thread because my Mum also thinks it's amazing. I've borrowed some of hers a few times and I have to agree! However, it is very expensive so I can't buy some of my own:( Thanks so much for hosting this give away! xx
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try Gutermann thread! I have never purchased it, which has left me wondering how it would compare to the thread brands I do have. Thank you for hosting this fun giveaway!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a cute box too!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love Gutermann! I'm slowly replacing all of my Coats and Clark to with Gutermann as I use them up. Who doesn't want some great thread!
ReplyDeleteOh, how neat that you get to host a giveaway! I have never heard of Gutermann Thread, but from what you say, it sounds wonderful! I have been in need of buying a few new spools of thread, but with all the different types out there, it is hard to know which one is truly worth the price!

Who wouldn't want more thread? :) Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteBecause I love to sew. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this thread! I am always trying to find a thread that I like and I haven't ever tried this type.
ReplyDeleteI love Gutermann thread, it is the only kind I use for my hand sewing projects! Great giveaway idea :)
ReplyDeleteI usually use Mettler thread when sewing, but I have tried Guttermann thread before and I really liked it. Also, I could always use more thread! Thanks for the great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWe love Guterman thread! At my sewing lesson today we just talked about how Guterman thread has the best reputation for being reliable.
ReplyDeleteI would love it because we are a homeschool family with 4 daughers who love old fashioned dresses and keep their mother busily sewing! And I, the oldest daughter am about to start one of my first sewing projects! We love guterman thread!
ReplyDeleteI've been running out of thread...time to stock up!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried Gutermann thread, only Coats & Clark, but I'd love to try and it and maybe make the switch! I am always up for better quality especially in garments!
ReplyDeleteI would love to use Gutermann thread for my sewing projects
ReplyDeleteI would love to have this thread to add to my daughter's communion dress.

I've never tried Gutermann and after reading your thoughts on it, I'm convinced that I have to try it! Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI have been using Gutermann since I started sewing 10 years ago! Love it!
ReplyDeleteI would like to win this thread because I have just found tons of skirts, dresses, and vintage sewing tutorials I'd love to work on. I have used Gutermann since I was seven and it is by far the best thread I've tried! Thank you so much for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWow, they're really taking the celebrating seriously! What a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI've never used their thread, because for a student like me for whom sewing is a hobby (though a huge one) the difference in price is quite substantial, and more than I can justify with the quality (as much as I would like to). And I have inherited lots of thread from mom and aunt who do not do so much sewing anymore. But among the spools inherited from aunt, there were two or three of Güttermann's buttonhole twist, which I'm definitelly looking forward to using. :-)
I've seen their display at our local store several times and would like to try them. When I purchased my machine, I ordered a big box of thread and am only just starting to have to replace some of the popular colors. Very excited to see who Gutermann compares to others.
ReplyDeleteEuropean readers can also participate? :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you girls

Oh, thank you so much!
DeleteI've never tried Gutermann. But after reading your post, I would really like to! Seems like they have a great reputation :)
I just love Gutermann thread! Not only does it sew wonderfully, but it looks beautiful too!
ReplyDeleteI would love this thread because I love sewing and always need more thread.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds wonderful. I have a vintage sewing machine also and was wondering what kind of thread to use. Enjoy the nice spring weather!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to get to try this thread out! I've only ever used Coats&Clark for my sewing projects.
ReplyDeleteJUST started sewing more seriously, so this will be perfect for new skirt endeavors!
ReplyDeleteJust gives you a reason to keep sewing!
ReplyDeleteJust gives you another reason to keep on sewing.....
ReplyDeleteI've been using Gutermann thread since day one of sewing, thanks to my mom who loves their thread and recommended that I only buy their thread. The have a loyal fan base in our household. :)

I'd love to try Gutermann thread! My vintage sewing machine also has tension issues, so I definitely need to try switching thread!
ReplyDeleteI am a beginner sewer and am not familar with Gutermann thread, but I would simply love to try it! Thank you for the tip on their quality. I'll be looking into it. :)
ReplyDeleteSheri
I would love to win the thread!

I would love to try some new, better quality thread as I launch myself back into completing my mountain of projects!
ReplyDeleteI'm entering my name for my daughter. Ever since she took an interest in sewing (at age 11) we enjoyed sewing our projects together. Gutermann thread has always been our first choice in thread. She married and moved to California last fall. I gathered quite a collection of sewing gadgets for a shower gift, but didn't even think of getting her thread. Now she's in California and has to go out and buy thread every time she starts a project. It would be so nice for her to have some basic colors for those quick little mending and hemming jobs.

Hi girls! I've been enjoying your blog for a bit now...reading back through all the old posts.I haven't made it all the way back to the beginning yet = )
ReplyDeleteI've thought about posting and letting you know how impressed I am with the job you are doing here. I should say the JOBS you are doing! And thanking God for blessing you with the many talents He's given you and for blessing us with those talents too. You've certainly brought an abundance of beauty and creativity into my life lately!
I'd love to try this thread. I'm a beginner sewer. I made a simple dress with a simple pattern and discovered that I DO NOT like following patterns! hahahahaha So since then I've made a few peasant blouses and a lined skirt that I'm really proud of ...sans-paper pattern = 0
I just learned to crochet so I've been doing a fair bit of that. I have some knitting looms to try next. I was REALLY impressed with Brigid's (I think??) gorgeous sweater she made...AWESOME!!
I'm old enough to be your mother...well, I'm probably OLDER than your mother, but I still enjoy all the different topics you post on. The set of suitcases that Brigid (again, I think???) got at the auction were the cases our family used when I was a little girl. I think my mom still has them! I should ask her for them = ) What did you do with them in the house? Are they strictly luggage? Did you decorate a room with them or use them as stacked storage?
I suppose I should stop. I'd been wanting to leave a comment for awhile and tell you all these things and so much more. I'll leave the "much more" for later though...hahahaha
I'm so glad you've been enjoying our blog! We are so blessed that we can bless others with the gifts God has given us.
DeleteAs for the suitcases... :) I have been using them for the storing of sewing patterns and material, though I'm waiting for the perfect short road trip to use them for. :D
Thank you so much for your lovely and encouraging comment!
Blessings,

Believe it or not, I think I used Gutermann thread when I made my linen dress from the Sense and Sensibility Swing Dress pattern. Because I don't know anything about different thread qualities, I think I bought the good stuff accidentally. :) But it sure worked great for my dress. :)
ReplyDeleteOh: and now that you've explained more to us about Gutermann and their quality, I would be delighted to have some more of their thread; especially in the various colors that are being offered in this Giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love sewing and who doesn't need more thread!
ReplyDeleteI have used Gutermann thread for a while. It is really nice to work with!
