Happy Friday, everyone!
I hope this blog post finds you all in good health despite the infection-ridden season! A few of our family have sadly been taken down with a cold/flu: NOT GOOD FOR SINGING! Especially with this holiday season being BOOKED with weekends of performances :-/ I have fortunately been blessed to have avoided it thus far, but prayers would be appreciated for speedy recovery/continuing health!

I adore a good pop of color in an outfit! Bringing out a hint of vibrance found in a print, or introducing a new hue altogether into an otherwise subdued ensemble really gets me inspired. I find this with any design in general. Monochromatic hues commanding the overall look, with bright reds or blues adding interest and excitement is one of my favorite forms of design!

You know, if you think about it, an outfit is a design too. The way the articles of clothing complement each other in color and shape, and work together to form the look is very much like the design of a pamphlet or website. In order for it to take on a good aesthetic, the various components must make each other look good, whether it be the colors, typefaces, images, etc.

The weather displayed in these photos is quite the reverse of what is happening outside our windows at the moment! It's snowing cats and dogs outside, with ice lain down nice and solid. The perfect December weather if you ask me :) I despise it when it gets into the 60's and wet whenever it should be cold and snowy ;P I'm just crossing my fingers that the chilly white stuff sticks around at least for the holidays, as these past few Christmases have been beautiful, yes, but grey. bleh.
What's the weather like where you live?
Do you like snow?
What do you think about outfits being designs?
Ta-ta For Now,

I love your thought about outfits being designs Charlotte! I have begun to treat them like that too, rearranging and experimenting with colors and styles. Yes, it is snowing a ton here and I am so happy! : ) I just hope that it is wet packing snow. :)
ReplyDeleteHope your family recovers! My siblings and I have light colds but my parents have really bad lingering coughs, (Hopefully that is not what your family gets!)

I love this outfit! Those red tights are so classy paired with the dress, I love how they make the small amount of red in the dress pop out. I need to get myself a pair of bright tights!
ReplyDeleteI hope you stay well and the rest of your family are better soon!
What a great comparison, as outfits being designs Charlotte! :)
ReplyDeleteI do not like snow! :p Give me summer and sunshine! But, I would rather have it cover the dingy brown shrubbery that is everywhere this time of year...For everything there is a season. :) Right now most of our snow from the last fortnight has mostly vanished, but right now it is falling beautifully! :)
I love your outfit! The dress it so lovely! The fabric is a perfect match!
Blessings and love,
Cassie
p.s. I also have not gotten any sickness as of yet! Hopefully it stays that way! Keep on eating vitamin C! :)
It is no fun-I will be praying that none of you get sick- it would be sad to not have your parents at
your coming performances- or have to cancel! :)
I love the whole outfit! You know how to use pops of color the right way! And outfits are definetley designs!

Oh, I love snow, but right now it's just misting and cold where we live. I am praying for snow this Christmas! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the way your dress and tights reminded me of Christmas colors. And the white sweater was like snow. :)
Where did you get your belt? I have been trying to find a belt like that and I haven't had any success.
~Heidi
P.S. I am praying that you will all recover from you colds and that you won't catch one. :)
I love the dress! Gorgeous. Looks adorable with the red tights!

This outfit is so lovely, Charlotte! Especially love the dress + tights + how you coordinated the shoes/belt. Praying for you all to get better - I agree, it's definitely challenging to sing while not feeling well! (I lost my voice right before filming my audition video for the BB choir...let's just say it was an interesting challenge. :P) Blessings and thanks for sharing, Charlotte - have a beautiful December!
ReplyDeleteI like your outfit, especially your dress:) I also enjoyed the comparison between the two different types of design. I never thought of it that way exactly, but it makes a lot of sense.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family get to feeling better soon!

Hi Charlotte
ReplyDeleteLove, love your dress! (my favorite style) Would you mind telling me the designer of the fabric? From Joanns?
You are so talented! Thanks
Wishing you a speedy recovery, just in time before Christmas too.
Blessings and wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas!
Irene
Very cute outfit. I love loafers. I am a walker by nature and therefore greatly appreciate attractive, practical shoes.
