Brigid's Birthday Party // Part 2

Hello dearies!
As you can tell by the post title, today we have part two of my birthday party photos. And this time it's the portrait session! I made this dress, the petticoat, as well Jessica's dress (which was supposed to be Charlotte's) and Charlotte made her dress!

Brigid (me!)

I love how my petticoat peeks out in this one.
Isn't the flower wreath that Jessica made me lovely?
I don't know why, but I look a bit strange here... :P
Charlotte
Yippee! Now we're getting happy!

Jessica
I absolutely LOVE this shot of Jessica... and the dress I made for her. :)

Sisters
Looking at Jessica's dov-ies.
Sisters... Again...
This one of Charlotte and I is perfect.
Ok, now all three sisters!
Charlotte: "Oh, no my skirt isn't flipping up! I'm merely sucking on a lemon!"
Not really, it just looks that way doesn't it?
Up, up, and away!
Ever since seeing a picture like this on pinterest, I have always wanted to do a "three graces" type of picture.
Thanks Jo, for capturing it perfectly!

Hope you all enjoyed the photos! Next up, the Par-tay!

  1. I love Jessica's dress! The button details on the shoulder are exquisite and the different designs on the fabric are lovely. Did you use a pattern or come up with the design yourself?

I love the wreath too...I had thought you ordered it from a florist when I saw your first photos!

    1. Thank you! I used a pattern, and the dress is actually made from a vintage sari, the buttons are a vintage self-covered button kit, and even the zipper is vintage!

Oh, yes, the wreath! Jessica has actually been working with a florist friend of ours, so you could say that we "ordered" it from a florist. :)

  2. These photos are so lovely - you all looked gorgeous! I really love your petticoat peeking out the bottom and the dress you designed for Jessica is so beautiful. My favourite picture is the '3 Graces' one of all three of you :)

Happy Birthday! Gorgeous pictures of you ladies - love all the outfits, especially Charlotte's. I did think Brigid's could have been more modest with a cami underneath. It is kind of low and at the sides where the arm holes in, she could be caught in a bad position. :) But lovely and fantastic photos!

    1. Thank you for your comment. I took a double take at the pictures after I read your comment, and after taking a a closer look, my Mom and I removed one that "looked" a bit immodest. Interesting how the shadows in pictures can deceive the eye...
Thank you for your constructive criticism.

  9. Your dress is gorgeous, Brigid - a vintage pattern, I presume? I think I've seen this style before. Of course, it helps that it's blue, because that's my favourite colour, and this is such a classy hue; and the textured fabric, too.

    1. Thank you so much Hana! Yes it is a repro vintage pattern. I'll be posting more details about the dress in a few weeks. :)
Oh, and I'll give you a sneak peek at how I got the textured fabric. It was sort of an accident, because the taffeta that I chose was hard to iron, I threw it in the wash "hoping" to get the wrinkles out of it that way, but instead it got more wrinkly, which I ended up liking. Why fight against a fabrics nature if you can use it to your advantage?

    2. P.S. The immodesty issue mentioned above - well, I think this fits you too well for any serious issues. :-) It might be that the V neckline looks lower than it really is because of the shape... an optical illusion.
I personally do not wear sleeveless clothes, but that's just my own personal choice born as much out of comfort preference as modesty.
