Generations to Come

Our purpose for going to Boston was to attend the Vision Forum Reformation 500 Conference held at the Boston Park Hotel. It started on Wednesday afternoon and concluded on Saturday noon. We gathered to listen to wise Christian men relate our lives of today to the Protestant Reformation that happened 500 years ago. Vision Forum has a website you can visit to find out more about this. Personally for our family we were encouraged with all that we learned, but most of all encouraged with the people we were surrounded by. The numerous families who all believe as we do, who are striving to raise our children in this world we live in.
The finale day was the 4th of July.
Around 8 AM, all 1000 attendees gathered at the swan boats park across from the hotel. It may be safe to say all the young adults and children were in period costume (1700-1800's) and some parents as well. This parade was the highlight of the whole trip. It took my breath away to see so many families gather to celebrate our independence in this way, honoring those who founded this wonderful country of ours. What fantastic memories for our children to keep and share with the generations to come.
One of the most impressive things to me was that we were in a public park, with out reservations to have a parade (none that I was aware of). Locals and early risers slowly gathered to observe our parade. The parade marched around the entire park. The boys and men played drums and fifes and the girls and women sang hymns. After covering the whole park they proceeded to the hotel grand ball room THROUGH THE STREETS AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS! It was fantastic. This is by far the best 4th of July our family has ever had.
