What (Mom) Made // Purple 50s Dress

(I, Charlotte {LWB} am doing this post in my Mom's stead, as she actually made the dress, but didn't have the time to post about it today.)

So I must say, I was very excited about my Mom making this dress for me for two three reasons:
1) The fabric. A rayon/wool blend. Obviously the fabric. ;)
2) I would at last get a 50s shirtwaist dress like my sisters. I have been waiting since they made/had theirs made.... It's a sister thing.
3) It's an everyday dress. Yes, my dear readers, and everyday dress.

So those are my reasons. You may now oogle over these fab pics below, and hear no more from me in this post....

twirl!
I just have to say, I love this one as it reminds me of something I've seen in a Sears and Roebucks 40s catalog...
Now, of course I was just kidding (of course.) Because, you see, I simply must say more to explain the special teaser for you all of a dress that is just waiting to be hemmed/have the facing tacked down upstairs... that I manufactured.
Let me just say, it looks very similar in style to the above featured...

  1. Wow! I love it! I need to make myself one! Lately the dresses I've been sewing are not everyday, so I haven't really gotten a chance to wear them.

  2. I love this dress - the style, fabric, color, everything! That was so nice of your mom to make it for you. I do have a question for you. What do you think makes a dress an "everyday" dress? Sometimes I wear skirts/dress everyday that are somewhat dressier, just because I want to wear them.

    1. Well for me it would be the type of material (like silk would definitely be dressy), the color or print of the material (such as a bland color as that of the dress featured, for me, would qualify more for an everyday dress) and possibly the style of the dress as well.
