I am actually sick with a dreadful, nasty head cold (blah, blah, and triple blah), but I decided to do a post today anyways... Instead of my weekly Friday's Favorites, I'm going to do another inspiration post on one of my favorite colors... bright blue :)
--- 1 BRIGHTNESS + CONTRAST---
This color is so vibrant and beautiful, and can add a ton to an outfit! It has that more fierce-brightness, which makes it so powerful and can add so much tang to an outfit!
The ensemble above has so much interest and color- but quite honestly, without the blue cardigan, it just wouldn't have half as much power or enthusiasm as it does with it.
Here are two more examples-
-the blue crops to the left can add so, so much flavor to an outfit, and makes for a fabulous "backdrop" for the rest of the outfit.
-In the second, the blue is used as a powerful backdrop, which causes the yellow to be all the more vivid and bright!
-- 2 SAME COLOR, PLENTY OF INTEREST---
Here we see this fabulous dress without an varying colored accents- yet it still has plenty of interest and flavor to it.
--- 3 LITTLE ACCENTS MAKE A WHOLE LOT OF DIFFERENCE ---
This is one of my favorite parts about this color... That a little dash of it can make all the difference in the world!
This blouse featured above (which btw- I just received in the mail yesterday, and am just dying to wear it!) would simply not look the same without the bright, pretty blue cuffs and collar (another note- the image of it totally misrepresents what it really looks like. The colors are so much more bright in real life.)
Here's another example- this darling print on the skirt is absolutely fabulous! But without those little blue accents on the bikes- it would just not be half as interesting.
And just a fun little tool for you all- I laid out a pallet of colors that complement the hue on which this post was about-
What do you think about bright blue?
Yay? Nay?
TTFN,
L.W.B
P.S- Do you have a certain color in mind that you would like me to do an inspiration post about? I would simply adore your responses :D

Hello, Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteI am SO very glad you decided to take the time to do this post (despite the bad cold-hope you feel better soon) because I just happened to receive a shipment of this lovely electric blue shirting in the mail. Your post actually helped me quite a bit in narrowing down my choices of what to make it into! :) It's actually the color of the capris and dress, but I was hoping to possibly make it into a button-down shirt. Do you have any inspiring photos for that?
As to the next color you should do, I would love it if you could choose yellow- not a mustard-y yellow, but more of a lemony/butter hue. As you can probably tell, I also ordered some fabric that shade and can't decide what to make it into. Inspiring photos are always wonderful!
Thanks for the inspiration and help,
Alicia Joy

Yay! I am so, so happy that this post helped you :D
DeleteAs to inspiration for a bright blue button down- here's a couple of links that might help:

(this one is actually yellow- but it has the same electricity as the blue of the dress, so it might still be good inspiration)
I will most certainly attempt at the butter/lemony yellow post!
Thanks so much for taking the time to comment :)
