Just this past Christmas, Charlotte and I (Jessica) surprised each other by making one another- Christmas slippers! Yes, we both had no idea that we were both making each other the same fun, and snuggly accessory until we were sitting side by side and opening our gifts! And even better was the delight of differences in each pair as you can see below!
Charlotte cleverly crafted my slippers from Martha Stewarts fun pattern found here
And let me just review these awesome warmth cleavers: they fit like they were made for me, and I never have to worry about going outside in them because Charlotte made them out of fleece and quilters batting, which means that the layers are thin enough to be worn inside a pair of rain boots and even snow boots! This is a wonderful plus for me since I greatly dislike having to be constantly pulling off one pair of shoes to grapple on an other. Also the color charcoal grey is perfectly compatible with my wardrobe!
I thank you, Charlotte, from the depths of my cold soles, for making these for me! They are my best friends now!
I made Charlotte's slippers from my own collaboration of ideas. I knew I wanted to wow her with the beauty of hand felted slippers, but I also wanted to make the soles as durable as possible with a little grip besides. So I puzzled over it for days, until I walked into my closet and suddenly solved the problem - I had a pair of old run-down black flats that I certainly would never wear again, and needed a better use. So, I ripped off the man-made uppers, and retained their canvas edge to be sewn onto the felted uppers. The felting process was long and tedious, but I finished in record time to attach them to the handy soles - and that in just days before Christmas! Eek! And wallah.....!
| Instead of a grippy sole, I ended up having to sew on felted bottoms. |

I subscribe to craft ideas from Martha S and received the pattern for these slippers in my inbox just this morning...how cute yours turned out to be! Happy New Year! ~Mrs. S :)
